Els Calderers Museum
Description:
Els Calderers is a stunningly beautiful Mallorquin manor house located in the centre of the island at the heart of the Mallorquin plains. The main building of the house was built in 1705, although the history of the grounds that belonged to the Calderers family can be traced back to 1285. The family that now own the estate decided to open it as a museum in 1997 to be a working example of Mallorca’s history and as a way of maintaining and conserving the house and grounds.
On visiting Els Calderers you are transported back to Mallorca 200 years ago, the house and grounds are arranged and decorated so that the visitor can see what it was like to live here all those years ago. The utmost care has been taken to preserve the house and you are guided on your visit by explanatory notes about each room and area. Fabulous antique furniture, books, letters and manuscripts are on display at Els Calderers as well as farming machinery, tools and weapons.
Visit the original wine cellar and try some of the wine still produced at the manor. Els Calderers is still a working estate and you will be able to see a variety of farm animals and try an array of home made produce; from wine and sobrasada to honey and orange juice.
Enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the Mallorquin countryside, make sure you give Els Calderers a visit!
